Wednesday, August 15, 2018....TBE Men's Club & KI Brotherhood present...Take Me Out to the Ball Game Extravaganza!. Enjoy an evening of baseball with the Iron Pigs! Start off with a kosher tailgate party from 5 pm to 6:30 pm (Includes burgers, hotdogs, veggie option and soft drinks..free will donation towards the cost of food is appreciated) Gates open at 7:05 pm for game! One lucky member of our group will get a chance to throw out the first pitch so enter the First Ptich Raffle. A book of 6 tickets is $5.00. Sign up for a chance to participate in on field activities. Games/contests for people of all ages. Tickets for game $15 per person. RSVP by July 15th to Roy Benasaraf at royben@ptd.net 

Friday, August 24, 2018. Join us for Shabbat BBQ Dinner and Service. Dinner is at 6 pm and service commences right afterwards. Come welcome new members and have fun with friends. First Annual Selichot Service with Brith Sholom & Temple Beth El. Saturday, September 1, 2018 @ Temple Beth El. Guest Speaker will be Temple Beth El member, Dustin Nash, Professor in Religion Studies @ Muhlenberg College. Dustin will lead a lecture on the topic of Sin and Forgiveness in the Tanakh. Lecture starts @ 9 p.m.

Sisterhood Holiday Wine Sale. Orders are due by August 23, 2018. Pick up for your wine is on Friday, September 7, 2018 between 11 am and 1 pm here at the temple.

Sunday, September 16, 2018 @ 12:30 pm TBE Cemetery Service and Genizah Ceremony. Traditional cemetery service will be held at the TBE cemetary at Beth El Memorial Park at 12:30 pm. Parking will be available on the street. For those who forget their kipot, some will be availabe in the box near the entrance. Members are reminded that NO flowers are to be placed on graves. Members of TBE will participate in a Genizah cermony at the cemetary. Acccording to Jewish law, all pieces of paper or any substance on which the name G-d is written, are forbidden to be destroyed. If a prayer book or bible becomes unusable due to age or disrepair, then it is to be stored away (ganuz) or buried.

Lay Leadership


Involvement in Decision Making Process

  • Attendance at board meetings – usually the 1st Wednesday of each month.
  • Participation as member or chairman of one or more committees as assigned
  • Knowledge of the Constitution and by-laws, operating procedures, financial affairs and the Temple program.
  • Be aconstructive participant at board meetings – focus on issues not individuals

Leadership Expectations

  • Attendance at worship services – at least one Sabbath service per month
  • Serve as an usher/greeter 4-5 times per year for Shabbat and for High Holy Days
  • Participation in social and cultural activities of the congregation
  • Engage in on-going Jewish studies and activities

Financial Responsibilities

  • Financial support of the congregation to the best of the Director’s ability
  • Be both financially and philosophically supportive of new building project and capital campaign.

Important Note:
We are first and foremost a religious community.In order to connect with G-d, our clergy and each other, we need to pray together.There is no other way to be connected and informed unless we participate in prayer services.It is essential that we come to services as a major focus of our Temple Beth El participation.
