Sisterhood Mission
To enrich and strengthen the spiritual,
cultural, and social life of Sisterhood members, and to promote in every way possible the
welfare and education of the Congregation of Temple Beth El.
A
message from your Co-Presidents Welcome
to 2012! We have a great year planned for Sisterhood. We look forward to
gathering together for Sisterhood Shabbat, always a special and memorable
morning when our members lead and participate in Shabbat services. Please
join us on January 21, 2012 beginning at 9:00AM as we celebrate our members
and all that we do to benefit our synagogue and our community. Thank you to
Monica Lemelman and Elaine Langer for planning and coordinating this special
service.
Speaking of all that Sisterhood does for our synagogue and community, in the
last few weeks of 2011, we granted a special one-time allocation to the
temple operating budget, in the amount of $5000, to offset unexpected
expenses related to snow removal last Winter. We did this to enable the
temple membership to avoid an assessment or huge dues increase to cover this
overage (thank you mother nature). We were able to provide these dollars, in
addition to our annual commitment of $10,000 because of the successes we
have experienced within our organization and because of all of our dedicated
members, volunteers and supporters. Additionally, since we experienced such
a great year, the Sisterhood Executive Board voted to increase our annual
commitment to the temple budget to $15,000 for 2012. To achieve this goal,
we will need the support of every Sisterhood and temple member.
As a reminder, 2012 Mah Jongg cards are on sale now. There is an order form
enclosed in this bulletin. Please ask your friends to purchase their cards
through our organization - every dollar counts. And join us on Monday,
January 23rd at 6:30 PM to play Mah Jongg and share some laughs. Watch your
mail and bulletin for more details about our upcoming brunch, Passover wine
sale and more.
We look forward to seeing you at future Sisterhood events....come join the
fun!
