Sisterhood Mission

To enrich and strengthen the spiritual, cultural, and social life of Sisterhood members, and to promote in every way possible the welfare and education of the Congregation of Temple Beth El.

Miriam's Memos/Alison's Axioms

Summer is coming to an end and our programming year is getting started. Thank you to everyone who supported our Apple’s and Honey New Year’s fundraiser and especially to all of the volunteers who helped with the enormous task of delivering New Year’s greetings to all of Temple Beth El’s membership. We feel proud that we are able to send greetings to all of our congregants and we hope everyone enjoys the sweet treat.

Our calendar production is underway with all of our volunteers soliciting advertisers and calling members to remind them to send in their greetings and order their calendars for 2011. If you are interested in advertising or helping, please contact Miriam Pitkoff at 610 439 1740 or Kathi Katzman at 610 398 2080 or email sisterhood@bethelallentown.org. Our calendar is an easy and economical way to have your business ad seen monthly in many of our members homes.

Wow, 2011 is rapidly approaching and we have a great year planned. Wednesday, September 15 we will hold our annual Opening Wine and Cheese. Look for information about the location of that fun event in the near future. Monday, September 20, we will have our first Mah Jongg tournament at the synagogue. That will be an evening of fun competition and all Sisterhood Mah Jongg playing members are welcome.

Our Paid-Up Membership event will be on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:30 at the synagogue and should prove to be a fun evening of desserts, socializing and Israeli Dancing. Please come and join us, dancers and non-dancers. On Thursday, October 14, Sisterhood will be heading off to New York on a bus trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan. We will view the permanent collection and the special exhibit on Mah Jongg. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $55.00 for the bus and admission into the museum and exhibit. Please RSVP to the synagogue and join us for this fun day trip.

Sisterhood is an organization open to all of our women and we invite you to join us at an event, volunteer for a fundraiser or a community service project or even share your ideas. Call Miriam Pitkoff or Alison Post if you want to volunteer or have any questions about our programs.

B’shalom,
Miriam & Alison
