Sisterhood Mission

To enrich and strengthen the spiritual, cultural, and social life of Sisterhood members, and to promote in every way possible the welfare and education of the Congregation of Temple Beth El.

Sisterhood Corner

We have a great year planned and we are looking forward to working together and seeing you at our upcoming events. Feel free to get involved. We are always looking for assistance. Nothing is too large or too small when it comes to volunteering.

Before we mention all of the great upcoming events we have planned for Sisterhood, let us fill you in on what we accomplished last year as a Sisterhood. We support our Temple, our community our country and Israel. We gave $10,000 directly to the Temple operating budget, we gave money to projects requested by the Rabbi, Cantor, Religious School and our youth groups. We gave to Federation, Jewish Family Services and to the local food bank. We gave to Torah Fund, which goes to the Jewish Theological Seminary and Jewish Women’s International. We also contributed to Masorti.

With all that we do as a group it would be great if everyone supported us. If you aren’t already a Sisterhood member, please join us. Dues are $36 a year and we welcome new members. If you already are a member, come to our events and enjoy yourselves. We would also like every one to participate in our fundraisers. We are currently taking orders for our Rosh Hashanah wine sale and there is still time to join in the Apples and Honey program where Israeli honey is sent with New Years greetings to the entire congregation. For $150 you can help sponsor the list, or just sponsor a few names for $2 each. The information for this program was mailed to everyone’s home; let us know if you need another form. We also need volunteers to help distribute the packages. Call Jill at 610-336-7482 if you can help with delivery.

Our upcoming activities will be our Mah Jongg Club starting on September 15th at 6:30. Please RSVP to Ilene Rubel at (call the Temple 610-135-3521 for the number) if you will be attending. Our Wine Sale and Apple & Honey pick-up day is Sunday September 21st at 10:00 - 12:00.

Mark you calendar for our Paid-Up event with author Ilene Beckerman on Wednesday October 29th.

Ilene’s books include: Love, Loss and What I Wore; Mother of the Bride: The Dream, The Reality, The Search for a Perfect Dress; and others. She had a major review in the New York Times and has also appeared on Oprah. This evening has been in the planning for over a year. Please join us for a wonderful evening and support our Sisterhood.

B’shalom,
Jill & Miriam
