Jewish Family Educator
Responsibilities:
- Work on a team with supervision by our Ritual and Service Coordinator
- Recruit family participation, both within our congregation and in the general community
- Create meaningful, joyous, interactive programs designed for parents and children together
- Organize 1-2 programs a month centered on Holidays, Shabbat, Jewish community, and schmoozing
- Lead Family Shabbat morning or Friday evening or Havdalah services, 6 times a year
- Develop materials for families promoting Jewish home experiences
- Provide education experiences for older families with teens, empty nesters, and grandparents 3-5 times a year
- Develop programs in conjunction with our adult education program
- Provide publicity for JFE programming
- Create written information for families and our congregation about living Jewishly
- Engage with other congregations and the Jewish Federation to create and implement community programs
Requirements:
- Experience with both formal education and informal teaching/programming settings preferred
- Love of Judaism and the wonder it holds, the passionate desire to share it, and the firm belief that we need to work for its continuity
- Supports and values a pluralistic and inclusive approach to Jewish education
- Outgoing and warm personality, with creative thinking and an “outside the box” attitude
- Strong technology, organizational, communication, and team-building skills
Salary: $8,000 - $10,000
Hours per week: 10 (includes monthly Shabbat, Jewish Holidays, and other programming
dates). Hours are flexible and can include some “from home” work.
Starting Date: Immediately (negotiable for the right candidate)
