Shabbat HaChodesh
This week is the forth in a series of special Torah/Haftarah readings called simply ארבע פרשיות Arba (four) Parshiyot.
It is called Shabbat HaChodesh = THE Month, referring to the timing of the very first Pesach in Mitzrayim of which we read in our Maftir.
Maftir: Exodus 12:1-20
Haftarah: Ezekiel 45:16-46:18
As we saw last week, Ezekiel, (Yichezkel) is a unique prophet being the only one to prophesy from exile.
This week we read his comprehensive vision of a purified, redeemed Israel returning to dwell forever in rebuilt Temple.
Turning to the specifics, we find a description that diverges from all other Biblical accounts.
WHY is Ezekiel’s version different?
